Duck Dynasty enjoyed a run of 11 seasons on the network A&E. If you ask us, this is enough evidence we need to figure out that the reality TV program was beloved by many. Without it, none of us would have been able to keep up with the Louisiana family called the Robertsons. The clan is known for their religious faith and duck hunting business empire. Some people simply dismissed them as the new Beverly Hillbillies, but we think that their beards are enough reason to go wild! One of the Robertsons recently decided it was time for the big shave… what could have led to this?
Jase is one of the Robertson brothers and a fan favorite on the show. He is best known for his bushy beard and clever comments. He recently informed his fans that he would finally be waving goodbye to his incredible beard. No one could have foreseen what would come from the transformation. Even Missy, his wife, was shocked by the result!
The Robertson Patriarch
The patriarch of the Robertson clan would be none other than Phil Robertson. He was the one who founded the incredibly successful duck calling company. A talented footballer when he was still a student at Louisiana Tech, he was even offered a roster spot on the NFL. Isn’t it amazing that he turned down the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity because he wanted to focus on the duck hunting season instead? In 1973, he started his very own duck call company. Who knew it was the right decision?
Fame By Facial Hair
Most of the men in the Robertson family had long but very distinctive beards. At some point, it became a part of their lifestyle. The facial feature ended up becoming the trademark of the family, although it was a useful tool when it comes to hunting as well. The beards became so popular that it is hard to imagine they would willingly part with it. That is why fans could not believe the pledge that Jase made.
The Robertson Family
The show focuses on a number of members from the tight-knight family. Miss Kay and Phil Robertson, the matriarch and patriarch of the clan, tied the knot when she was just 15 years old! The two of them have four sons together: Alan, Willie, Jep, and Jase. All of the kids have since started their own families, but they are all part of the duck hunting business in their own ways. Many of the grandkids also went on to play huge parts on the show. Willie’s daughter even went on Dancing With The Stars at one point. Even though they are all close with one another, we can only wager a guess as to how they felt about Jase’s plan.
Duck Dynasty Dilemma
Would you say you are a big fan of Duck Dynasty? If that’s the case, you must know everything there is to know about the scandal. There was a time when Phil said something offensive when he talked to a certain magazine. After the comments came out, the series was suspended. Some people believe that it was this moment that started the ratings decline of the show, which led to its cancelation. Was this the reason Jase opted to get rid of his beard?
The Funny And Good-Looking One
Jase Robertson is the second kid among the progenies of Phil and Kay Robertson. Nowadays, he works as the COO of the family business. If you tuned in to Duck Dynasty, there is a good chance you think of him as the funniest and best looking of the boys. What could have made him decide to shave at last?
A Good Reason
Even though just about every Robertson man has a long and bushy beard, there is simply something fascinating about the one on Jase. It is one more reason a lot of his fans and relatives felt shocked after he made his announcement to get rid of it. However, people changed their mind after hearing that he was doing this for a worthy cause. We hope you are ready to hear all about it.
His Little Girl
Jase has a daughter called Mia. She was born with a cleft palate and lip abnormality. This is a condition that happens when the top lip fails to form properly and the skull fails to connect with the top of the mouth while the baby is in utero. On the bright side, this is not fatal and can even be corrected through surgery. Even so, the child might suffer from certain speech difficulties while growing up.
Support From Fans
In 2014, Mia got a surgery to address the issue. Her mother and father were both anxious about it since this is their baby girl that we are talking about. However, they were glad that they never ran out of fans who provided them the support that they needed. We are sure these fans were a major deciding factor when they finally launched a charity to help kids born with this condition.
The Mia Moo Fund
Jase then began to raise funds for this worthy foundation that he and Missy wanted to create as a tribute to their beloved daughter. Isn’t it adorable that they decided to name it the “Mia Moo Fund”? The foundation was not only their way of honoring their daughter, but also a way to do something for a cause dear to them.
Setting Their Goals
They wanted to meet their goals and succeed with their plans, although they knew they needed a lot of money to make it work. This is why Jase opted to shave his beard. It was a fundraising pledge that he hoped would benefit the foundation. Missy’s reaction must have motivated him to go through with it. She was excited to see his face beneath the bush after seven long years. He said he would do it if they managed to hit their goal of a hundred thousand dollars. At the time, he did not know if it would work.
Beardless Robertson Brother
While nearly all of the men in the Robertson family boasted of facial hair, there was an exception to the rule. The eldest of the sons, Al, opted to go with a cleanshaven face while the show was on the air. Jase trimmed his beard several times as well, although he did this between taping, so it would still look good when it was time to live in front of the cameras. He was last cleanshaven seven years ago.
People With No Beards
Duck Dynasty fans were completely shocked to hear that he made a pledge to shave off his glorious beard. We have already talked about some of the reasons for this reaction, but you should know that he has previously talked about his reasons for keeping his facial hair long and busy. At one point, he said, “There are two kinds of people without beards, children and women, I am neither.” It was a playful comment, but was he going to be laughing when all was said and done?
Desire To Be Anonymous
The Duck Dynasty star previously thought about doing exactly what he did recently. In 2013, he has discussed that he was considering shaving it off once the series has wrapped up. However, he was not planning to do so for a charitable cause. No, he was thinking of doing it since he did not want to be recognized! He was used to being approached by fans, so he thought this would happen less when he did not sport that famous beard of his.
Time To Say Goodbye
While he has noble intentions to shave off his beard, he understandably needed a lot of time to think about going through this drastic change. It was going to be a huge transformation, and he was starting to have his doubts. Did you know that long beards are helpful to duck hunters? Apparently, they are good at making one blend in with the surroundings. After thinking about this long and hard, Jase eventually reached the conclusion that the advocacy was more important than this benefit. Aww.
Problems Came With It
Even though beards come in handy for duck hunters, there are huge costs as well. Can you believe that Jase was once singled out at the airport because of his beard? During that time, it was even longer than usual since duck hunting season had only ended. Security conducted a mandatory search on the TV star.
Mistaken For A Caveman
After the thorough search was conducted, he was approached by someone who wanted an autograph from him. He gave the young boy what he asked for and even started discussing the show with him. It did not take him long to realize that the child mistook him for a Geico caveman. While the encounter had been funny, perhaps this was what made him think it was high time to get rid of the beard.
Thanks To The Beard
Jase and his beard have proved useful to the lucrative family business. Jase put in a lot of hard work and dedication to the enterprise, and he has a net worth of $10 million to show for it. He has enough money to retire whenever he wishes, although he decided he still has to do more for the noble cause.
After The Show
After Duck Dynasty ended with 11 seasons to show for it, Jase wanted to spend his free time around his loved ones. He launched a website under the name “CamoFix”, which now serves as his platform to show fans what he has been up to, now that the cameras are gone. He has also appeared at various Christian events and gatherings. He does not have to film anymore, so he decided to go after the things that he feels passionate about. We are happy for you, Jase!
Making The Announcement
When June rolled in, Jase let everyone know about his plan to cut off the beard. A lot of fans felt shocked by this revelation. Jase and his wife even appeared on the Fox morning show to discuss the big shave and why he was doing this. They also told everyone that it would be happening on September 4. It seems like Jase already informed the barber about it too. Missy also revealed that she did not remember what he looks like beneath all the scruff. It was an exciting event for every Duck Dynasty fan out there. At last, it was time to see what Jase was hiding underneath the beard.
A New Look
Jase could tell that the big shave was going to be a big thing among the members of their fanbase, so he decided to give them the royal treatment by going on Facebook live. He sat down the barber chair and allowed Missy to take over the camera to capture the entire process. His friend got to work and shaved off his beard. On top of that, he got a hair cut to complete the look! What did the family have to say?
Her New Husband
What do you know – Jase did look very different when the beard was shaved off. Now sporting a clean-cut look, he looked dramatically different from the rest of the brood. People were happy with the result, but none of them felt more excited about it than his own wife. Missy said Jase looked like a different man but that she liked it. On Twitter, she even talked about how she was starting to flirt with her husband more often after the transformation. Honestly, we cannot even blame her! Just look at him.
Growing It Back
People could tell that he was probably just going to grow back his beard afterward, although they still took the time to appreciate his cleanshaven face while they still could. We know he must feel sad it was going to be somewhat tougher to go hunting, although he bet he was delighted by Missy’s reaction. Of course, nothing could beat the fact that he made everyone proud for what he did for the foundation.
Can you believe that there used to be a time when the Robertson siblings all looked clean-cut? It is pretty shocking, we know. Well, here they are as the handsome cleanshaven men they once were.
The Boys Before
Here is another photo you can look at to see just how much the Duck Dynasty stars matured over the years. Here are little Willie, Jep, and Jase! Any guesses what kind of mischief they were scheming? Hmm.
Sergeant Si Sans Beard
It seems like there was a time when Si Robertson sported the beardless look too. Can you recognize him without that iconic beard of his? Wasn’t he the dashing Sergeant! Do you like him better without it?
Marriage Through The Years
After seeing this photo, we can see just why Missy was thrilled by the makeover he got. The photo shows the lovebirds as newlyweds. She must be happy since he looked a lot like he did in the beginning.
It might seem hard to believe, but you are looking at an old photo of the family who would go on to become the stars of Duck Dynasty. Yes, we were also mind-blown when we first saw this photo. Wow!
Young And Smitten
Have another throwback photo of these lovebirds back in the day. They were a lot younger when this photo was taken. They could be the poster couple for American sweethearts! What a great photo this is.
In this one, the lovebirds are having the time of their life during a vacation in the tropics. There is always something so magical about holiday photos. They look different now, but this is still a nice shot of them.
Phil Of The Past
Can you believe that this was what Phil looked like when he was a lot younger? Whoa, he looks like an angel! Could he have any idea that he would one day cover his face with a legendary beard?
Will you look at this unbelievable photo of Stan? We love it, but we are sure that Stan does not feel the same way. He could have passed for a star in some Eminem music video with that look.
Mischievous Little Kids
During one interview, Willi explained the upbringing they had: “rough and tough…it created us to be independent and real confident.” We bet none of these four kids thought they would later run their very own company, one worth millions of bucks. They were kids, so they probably just wanted to play all day.
Back In The Day
Jase once felt like the show would do nothing more than bomb. “We grew up real poor. There were four boys and my parents in a two-bedroom house. So I cannot believe this,” he explained why he thought that way. The men in the photo were enjoying the recent success they were getting from the show.
In one interview, Willie talked about his views and experience with marriage and family. Here was what he had to say about those topics: “Our marriage has been tested: tons of kids, growing businesses and working with family on both sides. And it’s withstood all that. You either melt and crash or you become strong. We’re strong.” The family had been having a lovely time during their beach vacation.
If you talk to Willie, he will let you know that he does not plan on parting with his beard anytime soon, if ever. It is definitely fortunate that Korie, his spouse, is perfectly okay with this plan of his.
Making A Killing
Phil Robertson, the patriarch of the family, did not only make it big in the duck hunting industry. Let us talk more about how good he was out there on the football field. The young athlete here was talented at the sport, although he probably has no regrets. He might not have turned pro, but he is more successful than he ever thought he would be.
Are you ready to hear what Phil Robertson used to do to earn a living before he went into duck hunting. Together with his wife, he used to work at the local high school as a teacher! We couldn’t believe it too.
As young adults, Kay and Phil Robertson opted to stay in Louisiana, the state where they grew up in. This proved to be a great choice as it was the site of their duck hunting empire. Their children and eventual grandchildren also got to call the Pelican State their home. We bet they did not expect their success!
The Beginning Of The Beard
When did the beard craze start? Well, Phil began to grow out his when the kids were all in their teen years. When the boys graduated from high school, they decided to follow in their father’s footsteps and grow beards of their own.
High School Kid
Willie was also a talented athlete during his high school days. The basketball player eventually took over as the CEO of the family business. He now has a net worth of about $25 million! Do you think his million dollar smile helped him get to the top of the career ladder!
A Winning Yearbook Smile
According to Korie, his wife, the youngest of their kids have never seen Willie without his iconic beard. Bella should take a peek at his yearbooks to see what he looks like when he was still a clean-shaven lad.
Passing It On
Willie only became the CEO of the duck hunting business when all of his kids were no longer very young. Although the beard now covers a significant portion of his face, you should know that he has dimples. It is a good thing that he passed it down to John Luke and Sadie!
Family Photo Fun
Missy and Jase were childhood sweethearts. In the right photo, they are giving the camera their best smiles. On the other hand, the first photo depicts a bearded Jase with his wife and kids. How adorable!
Can you believe that Willie met Korie when they were attending summer camp in the third grade? The two of them were still in their teens when they got hitched. She narrated, “We were together probably three months before we started talking about it, and then we got married within a year — I was 18 and he was 19. No one was pregnant!” The lovebirds look happy and adorable in this prom photo of theirs.
Unwinding With Uncle
Sadie Robertson posted this photo on her Tumblr blog. What a great shot of her and Jep, her father’s brother! This photo went viral, and it is not hard to see why. The entire Robertson clan might boast of a loyal fan base, although this young woman has plenty of her own fans too.
Doing It Right
John Luke is the son of Korie and Willie. There is something delightful about the fact that he decided to grow out a beard in the name of tradition too. Don’t you think he looks just like his dad in this photo?
Tying The Knot
Recently, John Luke Robertson tied the knot with Mary Kate McEacharn. The two of them have been together for a long time before they decided to get married on the family farm. They both went to Liberty University. Lots of people attended the wedding – there were 700 guests, as a matter of fact!
Our beloved Duck Dynasty stars have a lot of fans, although it seems like their wardrobe is not all that popular. As a matter of fact, Jase was once mistaken for a homeless person! This was the reason an employee at the Trump International Hotel in New York kicked him out.
Supporting The POTUS
During the 2016 Presidential Campaign, Willie was not shy about expressing his support for the Republican candidate. Of course, his money was on none other than Donald Trump, the current President of the United States. He must have been glad about the result!
Meeting Barack Obama
In 2013, Willie and Korie both got to go to the White House Correspondents’ dinner. During their time there, they even had the chance to rub shoulders with President Barack Obama. Apparently, the 44th President of the United States happens to be a fan of Duck Dynasty! Nice.
It is interesting to hear that Willie and Korie are on good terms with Eric and Lara Trump. In fact, the Duck Dynasty couple donated money to the Trump presidential campaign in 2016. Would you like to see Eric Trump grow out a Robertsonesque beard? Let’s keep our fingers crossed that it will happen.
Al The Wild Child
Are you under the impression that Al Robertson is someone with a conservative nature? This is not necessarily the case. In fact, the original beardless brother has a pretty wild past! Well, perhaps we should have known about this since he did deviate from the family tradition…
The past year had been a sad one for the Robertson clan. They actually lost a family member to cancer. Anyone who has seen the show will know just how close they all are. They were always there to support one another when the going gets tough. While sad, there is something moving about the way they stood by their loved ones through different disasters and tragedies…
Welcome To Robertson Row
Most of the family members live close to each other in a place that has since been called “Robertson Row”. It serves as a cul-de-sac for them with its eight houses four of which the Robertson brothers live in. The other four houses serve as the residence of their extended family members and other family friends. Now that you know they are also physically close, we are sure you can imagine how hard it was when one of their own died of cancer.
A Sad Day
One of the four homes not occupied by the boys go to John and Chrys Howard. They are the parents of Korie Robertson. They have become an important part of the clan and even showed up on Duck Dynasty a few times when the show was still running. Many fans of the show know them to be good parents as well as loving grandparents. When one of their cousins succumbed to cancer, the rest of the Robertson clan was there to provide them with the support and love they needed.
As we have said earlier, Korie and Willie Robertson were just kids when they met at summer camp. In fact, Chrys was working at Camp Ch-To-Ca at the time. She has always been a friend of the Robertsons. When her relative died, she posted a photo to honor her late cousin. The caption said, “This past week one of my cousins, Glenn Durham, lost his battle with cancer and gained his heavenly reward.” Let’s hope that the Robertsons have since come to terms with their loss. The only thing to do now is to move forward!
