One day in May 2020, Hunter Lane’s family made a decision to take a stroll on the beach. He was a seven-year-old at that time. Little did he know that there was an odd thing waiting for him on the sands of the beach he’d go to. He was peacefully walking on the sands, enjoying the view of the calm waters as he was also enjoying the breathtaking view of the sky when he came across a strange creature that was splashed into the sands. Keep on reading to know what happened next and discover what the creature really was.
Describing Its Physical Appearance
As can be seen in the photo, the unknown creature was seen by Hunter Lane in the color blue. Even though he had already seen a lot of creatures before, he was surprised to see this one because he had not seen one like this ever in his entire life. Well, that fact just made him more curious to learn more and investigate the strange creature that he randomly found on the sands. Just like Hunter, I know you are now curious, too, so keep on reading to know more!
What Kind of Shape Is That
To see what the creature actually looked like when Hunter Lane saw it being splashed on the sands, look at the picture attached to this slide. I clearly do not know you personally, but I am very confident that you still haven’t seen a creature with such a shape before. Well, that odd figure just made Hunter Lane more curious to the point that even though he could’ve just kept on walking, his attention was badly glued to the unknown creature. Did he just discover a new type of species?
At the very moment when Hunter Lane landed his eyes on this unknown and freakish creature, there was only one thing that came to his mind – discover more about it. However, with that being said, there were still a lot of things that he did not know about the creature – he was not sure if it was safe to interact with it or even touch it. That was why even though he was so curious, he still had to be very cautious with everything he would do to the creature.
Stay Away from Them
It turned out that being cautious was a good decision for Hunter to make. Recently, animal experts working under the Padre Island National Seashore, the beach where Hunter and his family went, let out an announcement warning people to be cautious if ever they would come across this creature. They described it as a blue-colored creature with a bizarre shape. They encouraged people to stay away from creatures like this as they could be really dangerous, especially to people who don’t have lots of knowledge about animals of different kinds.
Padre Island National Seashore
Hunter Lane happened to find this freakish creature along the sands of Padre Island National Seashore. In an interview that took place after this incident, it was revealed that Hunter had always been fond of underwater animals ever since. It was also the reason why his parents made a decision to go to the beach that day. Well, none of them obviously knew that the seven-year-old kid was about to discover a rare creature – little did the whole Lane family know that they would come across the freakish blue creature.
Looked Like a Jellyfish
A few minutes after looking at the freakish creature closely, Hunter thought that it was a jellyfish – a blue button jellyfish to be exact. Well, with the color that the unknown creature had, it can actually be really compared with each other. Another thing that may have influenced the kid’s judgment is the fact that they appear as if they share the same size. Now let me ask your opinions. Looking at the pictures of the unknown creature and the picture attached to this slide, do they really look similar?
A New Creature
Thinking that it was just a blue button jellyfish, Hunter immediately got a hold of it and picked it up. Looking at it at a much closer view, the kid eventually realized that it was actually not a blue button jellyfish. He then ran towards his father and let him take a look at the “new species” that he had found. He also showed the freakish creature to his mother. Being the supportive parents they had always been, Trey and Leah told their son how proud they were of him.
Soft and Squishy
After telling his parents that he had found a new creature, Hunter Lane could not move on from the fact that the creature was so soft. To be more specific and exact, Hunter described the creature to be very “squishy”. Happiness can be seen in the kid’s eyes as he was so proud of himself for discovering something rare for the first time in his life. On the other hand, Trey and Leah, Hunter Lane’s parents, told their son how proud they were – they just let him have his moment.
After receiving the report that an unknown and strange creature had been found on their sands, the management of Padre Island National Seashore immediately took action, responding to the issue. After doing a thorough investigation, they found out that the blue freakish creature which Hunter had found was actually a Blue Glaucus. Also known as Glaucus Atlanticus, Blue Dragon, Blue Ocean Slug, or Blue Angel, a Blue Glaucus is a shell-less gastropod mollusk that floats upside down – it’s carried along by the winds and ocean currents most of the time.
It Has No Shells
Just like most of the animals that belong to the family of mollusks, blue dragons don’t have backbones – that’s why Hunter described the creature as a squishy and soft animal. Also, despite the fact that some animals of the mollusk family have the ability to grow a shell, a blue dragon isn’t like them as it’s a shell-less animal, just like what I’ve said in the past slide. Well, with all the brief descriptions that I’ve shared with you about this rare creature, aren’t you curious just like Hunter Lane?
Now, let me share some facts with you about Blue Glaucus. Let us dig deeper into the scientific side. The Blue Glaucus has an appendage that is located on its back. If you are wondering about its purpose or function, the appendage attached to the creature’s back is used and beneficial for its breathing process – in short, they are called external grills. If you are curious about how it looks and if you want to see the Blue Glaucus’ external grills, just look at the picture attached to this slide.
As you can see in the photo attached to this slide, the Blue Glaucus also has tentacles that are located on its head. Unlike most of the sea creatures that use tentacles for the sake of mobilization, this mollusk family uses tentacles as a sensory organ. They use their tentacles to detect things that can serve as their food. With that being said, the Blue Glaucus’ tentacles are obviously one of the most important parts in its body – without its presence, the sea creature would barely be able to survive.
They Are What They Eat
Just like the famous motto, “You are what you eat”, the Blue Glaucus, also known as the Blue Dragons, possesses one quality that their food has – color. As you can see in the photo attached to this slide, the creature almost happened to camouflage with the thing it was eating. Well, that is simply because Blue Dragons adapt to the color of what they’re eating. In the picture, you’d be able to see a color orange anemone, the thing that the creature was eating – the creature adapted to its color.
They Are Predators
You must have noticed that I have been talking about their food habits in the past few slides – now, let us talk about Blue Dragons and how they act as predators. Even though you may think that they look too small or kind to be a harsh predator, they really are. In fact, they prey on the creatures that several see animals avoid. Well, even though it’s a weird fact to think about, it’s actually beneficial for the Blue Dragons because they have almost no competition in eating their prey.
Small But Terrible
Just by reading the creature’s name, Blue Glaucus or Blue Dragons, without having an idea of what it actually looks like, you might feel scared or intimidated by it. Well, I advise you to never feel intimidated by this sea creature because, in real life, it appears in a very small size. You might think of it as a scary creature because of the huge and terrifying facts I have already mentioned earlier. Well, I am really sorry to burst your bubble but Blue Dragons are only three centimeters long.
Why Are They Called Dragons?
Aside from the fact about how their figures resemble the shape of a dragon, there’s still another reason as to why they were given such a name. The Blue Dragons also share the same movements with real dragons when they are moving underwater. If you’d have the chance to witness how they mobilize in water, you would see how they look as if they are flying when in fact, they are actually swimming. If you are curious, try to look for videos on the web showing how Blue Dragons swim.
Avoiding Their Predators
They have a tricky way of how they make their predators stay away from them. In the mindset of predators, Blue Dragons go around with the basic blue color of their skin. You might now be asking yourself where the bright blue color can be seen in their skin – such a color can actually be found on the underside of their bodies. When there are predators, they simply turn upside down so that the vibrant color would be facing the predators – making them think that they aren’t to prey on.
A Tricky Way
With that amazing gesture, whenever there would be a predator coming around to prey on them, Blue Dragons would just have to flip themselves around and that would be it – they would no longer be recognized by their predator because the vibrant color would be the one already flashing to their faces. Take note that the darker skin color is the only color that their predators recognize. Isn’t it amazing to think about the fact that they were specially made that way? Let me ask you – what are your thoughts?
Where They Can Be Found
There are many water forms that blue dragons can live in, but most of their population can be found in Mozambique, the United States, South Africa, and Australia. That fact was already proven by all the blue dragons that happened to be splashed along the sands located in the mentioned countries. Well, only a few cases were reported to the authorities because only a few blue dragons stay on the upper part of the oceans – that’s why these creatures getting splashed along the shores is a rare thing to happen.
Visiting the US Shores
To support the statement that I have said in the past slide, let me tell you an incident that happened in the middle of 2017. One day, a lot of tourists relaxing on the shores of Cape Canaveral, which is a prominent cape in Brevard County, Florida, were thrilled to see some blue dragons. At that time, none of them were aware of these creatures’ existence and their nature. With that being said, most of the tourists made a wrong and dangerous decision to interact with the blue dragons.
Cute Little Nicknames
These creatures have possessed several names as lots of discoveries about them were made by animal experts. Well, some of their names can be a little bit misleading because they are too cute and soft to hear, such as “blue angel”. By hearing such a name, humans would most likely think that the creature is a non-violent animal that would never be dangerous to people. Well, that is the part where they went wrong. Hence, thanks to all the animal experts that kept on raising awareness about the blue dragons.
Way Back 1777
Even though a lot of people these days are still not aware of blue dragons’ presence in the oceans, these creatures have already been existing since a long time ago. This statement can be proven by the report that happened in 1777 when a group of explorers happened to interact with a blue dragon on their way to their destination. This group of explorers was riding the HMS Challenger at that time. Their story about their experience of encountering such a creature, which was so rare, became popular in London.
The HMS Challenger
After their story became popular, a group of animal experts, together with the people who worked behind the creation of the HMS Challenger, made a huge decision to convert the pearl-class corvette into a biological laboratory that would still be sailing on the seas. Today, it can be said that the laboratory turned out to be a huge success because a lot of unknown species, 4,700 to be exact, were discovered after the maritime laboratory’s creation – a new group of blue dragons was also discovered by the animal experts.
They Preserved a Blue Dragon
The group of animal experts chose one blue dragon to preserve. They successfully preserved it by using glycerin, which is a simple polyol compound, and that blue dragon was eventually donated and transferred to one of the most well-known museums in the world, the National History Museum in England. For the record, that creature is still stored in the museum up until today. Next, let us talk about what makes the blue dragons a group of dangerous sea creatures. Keep on reading to learn more!
Terrifying Diet Habits
I’ve already mentioned how the blue dragons prey on to other creatures as their food. Such a diet habit is what makes them really dangerous species to interact with aside from the vibrant color that their skin projects. With their terrifying diet habits, blue dragons would dare to prey on anything they would see that they can attack and that does not exclude human beings. That is why people should always stay away from such creatures whenever they would encounter one – share this information and let others be aware too!
Cnidarians As Their Food
If you are wondering about the specific group of animals that blue dragons choose to prey on as their food, cnidarians are one of them. To be more specific, blue dragons like to attack the Portuguese man o’ wars, which can be seen in the photo attached to this slide. These creatures are also known as floating terror, blue bottle, or simply man-of-war. One of its most menacing features that people should always stay away from is their set of tentacles that is really dangerous to have contact with.
Portuguese Man O’ War’s Tentacles
The Portuguese man o’ wars may look really intimidating because of their threatening features, especially their tentacles. Well, because of such a body part, they really are intimidating and they are one of the sea creatures that a lot of people and animals are very careful to avoid. Well, things go the other way around for the blue dragons because they are actually immune to the deadly sting that Portuguese man o’ wars’ tentacles eject. Well, that is why the blue dragons prey on these creatures despite its fatal sting.
How It Preys on Others
Blue dragons would usually attack their prey by locking themselves to the creature they would eat as their food. Next to that is their move where they would suck all the cells located in the prey’s tentacles which would eventually be kept in the blue dragons’ fingers. And that my friends, is the brief explanation of the process about how the blue dragons eat other sea creatures as their prey. They have a really strong diet habit, don’t they? What are your opinions and thoughts?
Where Do the Toxins Go
The toxins we’re talking about is the one that the blue dragons suck from the tentacles of their prey – let’s have the man o’ war as a basis. When a blue dragon already finished absorbing all the toxins from the man o’ war, they would be stored in the dragon’s fingers. Those toxins would eventually be used by that blue dragon as a form of defense – when a creature’s about to attack it, the dragon would use the toxins to hurt the attacker, so never attempt to touch blue dragons.
PINS Recognized Hunter Lane
Going back to the story about how the seven-year-old kid, Hunter Lane, encountered a blue dragon in the sands of Padre Island. After reporting it to the management, they immediately responded to the incident by posting an announcement on their official Facebook page warning tourists to stay away from blue dragons if ever they would see one along their shore. They also recognized the kid as one of the people who happened to interact with the creature – which is a really rare happening to occur.
Describing the Blue Dragons
In the same Facebook post, the Padre Island National Seashore Management gave a detailed description of how blue dragons look. They warned everyone to stay away from creatures appearing to be 3cm in size and having a blue color. In the statement, they said that despite its small size, such a creature can attack someone, hurting him/her really badly. With a lot of hope, the management of PINS aspired for the post to reach a lot of tourists, so that they would be aware when they visit the sands.
In an interview that was held a few days after the incident, Leah, the mother of Hunter Lane, shared her experience of being tempted to touch the blue dragon too. There are two factors that really motivated her to touch the creature – its vibrant color and its softness. However, being the protective mother she has always been, Leah discouraged her son and told him not to touch it because they know nothing about the creature – they were not sure if interacting with it was something that is safe to do.
A Smart Kid
As his mother was discouraging him to touch the blue dragon, which was still unknown to them at that time, Hunter Lane was critically thinking in his mind whether he should follow his curiosity or follow his mom’s advice. Well, after thorough decision-making, Hunter thought that the creature may be a dangerous one, so he did not touch it anymore as he did not want to risk his safety. Kudos to Hunter Lane because what he did was very smart. Let this be an inspirational lesson to all of you!
There’s a First in Everything
In the same interview that Hunter Lane and his parents went on, Trey said that in the entire years when he would usually visit the sands of Padre Island, it was his first time to see a blue dragon. Well, there is truly a first in everything. In addition to that, there’s this employee working under PINS who also shared her experience of seeing such a creature for the very first time since she started working there. Well, that just explains how rare of an occurrence seeing blue dragons is.
A PINS Employee’s Experience
The employee I mentioned in the past slide is Kennedy. She is an employee working under the Padre Island National Seashore and even though she has already served the shore for a couple of years, the day when Hunter Lane encountered a blue dragon is also her first time to actually see such a creature. Although she was already warned before about blue dragons’ sudden presence on the shore, it was still surprising to see the creature in person. She was so amazed and scared – both at the same time.
Given the fact that Kennedy is an employee working for PINS, she’s aware of all the incidents that have been recently reported to the management involving blue dragons. She also has noticed that a lot of these creatures have been recently found during the past few days before Hunter Lane and his parents reported the same incident. With that being said, Kennedy believed that lots of blue dragons landed all in the same spot on the sea which happened to be so near to their shore. Well, that’s kinda reasonable.
I Second the Motion
After Kennedy shared her theory as to why a lot of blue dragons have been found recently in Padre Island, a co-worker stood up to share his agreement. It turns out that he also happened to notice how the frequency of blue dragons being found on the shore increased in the past few weeks. Well, with that being said, the Padre Island National Seashore management immediately came up with a plan to investigate and respond to the sudden presence of blue dragons on their sands.
With the controversy involving the blue dragon sightings getting bigger, a professional from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, living by the name David Hicks, decided to get in the picture and share his knowledge about blue dragons. According to studies, he said that there are really a lot of blue dragons swimming under the water, but seeing them getting splashed onto the shores is a really rare occurrence. That’s why he also warned everyone to always be wary and careful whenever they would come across such an organism.
Another Unknown Creature
Yes, you’ve read the title right. Let me tell you a story about another unknown creature that suddenly reached the shore of the Coal Oil Point Reserve located in California. This time, the unknown sea animal is way bigger compared to the blue dragon that only measured a total of 3cm in size. Look at the photo attached to this slide if you want to see how the unknown creature looks. Keep on reading to know more about the investigation that happened – and discover what the sea animal really was.
An Ocean Sunfish
When the management of the Coal Oil Point Reserve received the report saying that there was a huge sea animal that got washed off their shore, several employees immediately went over the place to look for it. After a few minutes of observing its physical appearance, most of them thought that it was an ocean sunfish, which is one of the heaviest known bony fishes in the world. Was it really a sunfish, though? Well, keep on reading to know if it truly was an ocean sunfish.
One of the Largest Sea Animals
The ocean sunfish is one of the heaviest sea animals. With that being said, you may now be feeling kind of threatened, and don’t worry because I feel you – just kidding! Given the fact that it is a really intimidating sea creature, it can be said that a lot of animals can not make ocean sunfish as their prey. Well, that set of animals does not include way bigger sea animals such as sharks. Well, the unknown creature that was found weighed 600lbs. Could it really be a sunfish? Hmm…
Another factor that made the Coal Oil Point Reserve management assume that the unknown creature was an ocean sunfish is the fact that a lot of sunfish have been found getting washed up on their shore in the past few weeks. Well, after getting into a thorough investigation involving a few animal experts, it was revealed that it was not an ocean sunfish – in fact, it was a different sea animal that was way scarier. Are you now curious? Keep on reading to satisfy that curiosity!
Not That Surprised
Even though a huge unknown creature has suddenly reached the shore, it was already not new to the employees working under the Coal Oil Point Reserve because a lot of similar cases already happened. Well, with such a location, various sea creatures reaching their shore is already not surprising to the people working there anymore. That is why the management was not that shocked during the time when they received a report of an incident saying that there was another creature that got washed up on their shore.
Birds Got To Relax Sometimes
Do you believe that birds, just like humans, have to relax sometimes, too? Well, I honestly think that they really do because a lot of them happened to relax along the shore of Coal Oil Point Reserve. Yes, they are one of the animals that can be found in the said area. The management ever complained about it, though, because the birds have always been beneficial for them, too – they function as hosts to the plants that are growing on the shore.
The Devereux Slough
The Coal Oil Point Reserve has a spot called the “Devereux Slough”. It experiences a huge transformation whenever the weather would change from a cold one to a hot one and vice versa. Well, during these transformations, a lot of creatures happen to make the Devereux Slough their habitat – depending on the season. Props to the management of the Coal Oil Point Reserve because instead of insisting the animals to go away or worse, kill them, they just let animals stay there for a while.
In a year, it can be approximately said that thousands of different creatures make the Coal Oil Point Reserve their habitat for a given span of time. Maybe because of its good atmosphere and the calm nature, that is why plenty of animals choose to stay there as their safe place. Well, with that being said, the Coal Oil Point Reserve, together with all the people working there, is without a doubt an animal-friendly space. Props to everyone who chooses to let the animals stay there.
Next to the Pacific Ocean
Let me tell you another factor that made the Coal Oil Point Reserve a place where lots of different creatures happen to reach. The place lies next to the Pacific Ocean. With that being said, I think you already know the explanation for that. Well, to those who don’t get it, the Pacific Ocean is home to thousands of sea animals. Bordering such a huge water form, the management of the Coal Oil Point Reserve is not surprised to see tons of random creatures getting washed up their shore anymore.
Different from the Usual
Going back to the creature that was unknown to each and everyone in the Coal Oil Point Reserve, an animal expert living by the name Jessica Nielsen has been in touch with the management ever since random creatures began getting washed up on their shore. Nielsen once shared in an interview that the huge unknown creature was so rare to the point that she failed to distinguish it at first. She also described it being different from the animals that used to suddenly appear on the shore of the reserve.
Another Expert’s Opinion
The animal expert, Jessica Nielsen had a difficult time recognizing what the unknown creature really was and while she was doing thorough research, she posted some pictures of the creature on Facebook. She had a friend who happened to be another animal expert – Thomas Turner. As soon as he found out about the incident, he immediately went to the Coal Oil Point Reserve and checked the creature out. He was very curious about what it looked like in person and the moment he laid eyes on it – he was stunned.
Describing the Enormous Unknown Creature
In an interview that took place days after the incident happened, Thomas Turner had the chance to share his experience of seeing the unknown sea creature in person. He started off by saying how shocked he was the very moment he saw it. He described it being totally enormous – he was confident that its length would measure more than six feet. He also pointed out his huge mouth that had really scary-looking teeth. Well, seeing how the animal expert described it, the unknown creature must have been really terrifying.
Need Some Help
Even though most of the people working in the management of the Coal Oil Point Reserve came up with the same claim saying that the unknown creature was an ocean sunfish, none of them were licensed animal experts so they could not be really sure about that. With that being said, they posted a few photos of the creature and posted it on a website where animal experts could see concerns involving various living things. Well, after a few minutes of posting the pictures, several animal experts responded to them.
A Blessing Sent from the Heavens
Being open to thousands of animal experts, it was already expected that opposing opinions and comments would be made under the post that was made by the management. Well, thanks to all the higher beings out there as one animal expert had a very different opinion about the unknown creature – Ralph Foster. He was the only one who had a different comment compared to the others and if you were there to come to think of his opinion, it actually made sense. Keep on reading to see what he said.
More Experts Getting Involved
Thanks to the animal expert, Ralph Foster, and his helpful comment, Thomas Turner had someone to rely on regarding the information involving the unknown creature. As days went by, lots of people kept on sharing their opinions and that just made the case easier and harder to solve both at the same time. Well, another expert involved herself – Marianne Nyegaard. She was a marine scientist and she felt like she had the need to involve herself in the incident about the unknown sea creature.
The Photos Were a Hindrance
I am a hundred percent sure that you are expecting the photos taken by the management to be a huge help to reach out for help from other animal experts. Well, it turns out that everything went the other way around as the marine scientist, Marianne Nyegaard, revealed that she honestly thought of the photos as a hindrance rather than being helpful because they were not that clear. With that being said, the marine scientist had a hard time looking at the creature in the photos posted on the website.
Nowhere To Be Found
Well, because the first batch of animal experts who got involved, Jessica Nielsen and Thomas Turner, badly needed help from other experts who happened to be Marianne Nyegaard and Ralph Foster; the former made an effort to come back to the Coal Oil Point Reserve just to take much clearer photos of the unknown creature. Just when they were about to take a new set of pictures, the creature was already nowhere to be found. They had a gut feeling that it got washed away by the waves.
Well, even though it was a heartbreaking scene to see, Nielsen and Turner braced themselves and roamed around the Coal Oil Point Reverse to look for the unknown creature. Well, after several minutes of searching around the area, the two jumped out of joy when they finally found the creature. As soon as they found it, one of them immediately took some pictures as they made sure that the photos turned out much clearer at that time compared to the previous photos.
Taking New Photos
Knowing that Marianne Nyegaard had a hard time viewing the physical features of the creature in the previous photos, Jessica Nielsen and Thomas Turner were very careful in taking the new batch of photos after finding it again on the Coal Oil Point Reserve. After sending the photos to Nyegaard and Foster, the two finally had the opportunity to investigate the unknown creature’s physical appearance. The animal experts discovered a lot of things and to know those discoveries, just keep on reading!
They May Be Similar But They’re So Different
The title of this topic may be contradicting and confusing, but it said it all. After thorough investigation, the animal experts learned that the features that an ocean sunfish had did not match the features that the unknown creature had. In shorter terms, they finally had the chance to confirm that the creature was not really an ocean sunfish. Well, at least it is now all clear that the unknown creature we are talking about is not a sunfish – it is still unknown, though. Keep on reading!
It Was a Delightful Experience
Let’s look at one of the animal expert’s points of view regarding the incident that involved the unknown creature. In an interview that took place days after the incident happened, Jessica Nielsen got the opportunity to share her experience in case. She told everyone how happy she was because she did every single action that she did with joy and good intention – to help the animal and the Coal Oil Point Reserve at the same time. She was so happy to tell the media that it was a fun experience.
Jessica Nielsen also got the chance to share one of the most unforgettable experiences she had working with all the other experts. She was actually the one who took the pictures for the second time and in the interview, she told everyone how nervous she was when she was taking the pictures because she did not want Marianne Nyegaard to still have some problems in viewing the creature through the photos. Well, her hard work paid off because the second batch of pictures turned out to be really helpful already.
After seeing the second batch of photos which turned out to be way clearer compared to the first batch of pictures, Marianne Nyegaard finally had the ability to compare the similarities and differences of the unknown creature and the ocean sunfish. Well, with the help of thorough research and other experts, Nyegaard finally came up with a conclusion that made it very clear to everyone. The unknown creature was said to be a hoodwinker sunfish. After that, she kept on studying the hoodwinker species.
Thanks to the hard work of all the animal and marine experts that got involved in the incident, the world of biology got the chance to discover another type of sunfish. Before the time when Marianne Nyegaard concluded that the creature was actually a hoodwinker sunfish, marine and animal experts only knew one type of sunfish and that was the ocean sunfish. Well, that just proved that in our world today, there would always be new discoveries as time would pass by no matter how technology already has evolved.
Of course, after discovering a new type of sunfish, the marine scientist, Marianne Nyegaard, expected that a lot of research and studying would be coming her way – clearly, she had it coming. In fact, a few months later, several hoodwinker sunfish were seen in beaches located in different countries such as South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, and Chile. Well, even though it surely was tiring, I am a hundred percent sure that it was a huge milestone for marine scientists.
A Whole New Level of Realizations
Aside from discovering a new type of sunfish, Marianne Nyegaard was also able to realize that a lot there was a high possibility that most of the recorded ocean sunfish sightings were actually not correct and what if some of them were just misclassified? Well, with that being said, I think Marianne Nyegaard just bought herself a huge task of reviewing all of the ocean sunfish sightings that were recorded in history.
The Two Looks Really Similar
In an interview, Marianne Nyegaard told the media that despite the huge step she had to make, she could not blame the people who made that record because the differences among the ocean sunfish and hoodwinker sunfish were truly difficult to recognize. Well, at least she successfully became the first person to see the diversity and with that being said, I am hoping that the marine scientist, Marianne Nyegaard, also became successful with all of the other discoveries she has made.
Would Always Be Unbelievable
Marianne Nyegaard also shared how she felt after being the very first marine scientist to discover the hoodwinker species – for her, everything was surreal. Even though her name was already on different newspapers and social media sites, she still could not believe that she just brought a whole new discovery to the world. Another thing that really amazed the scientist was the fact that a few weeks later after her discovery, sightings of the hoodwinker sunfish happened in another part of the United States. She couldn’t be prouder of herself.
Far from Home
After studying really hard about the nature of hoodwinker sunfish, Marianne Nyegaard had the opportunity to discover that they actually live and swim in the deeper part of the ocean, so the marine scientist was so surprised to know that some of them had the ability to reach the shores of some areas. Well, maybe the ocean waves were just too strong to the point that hoodwinker sunfish sometimes got washed up on the upper part of the ocean bordered by shores.
Well, That’s Just Normal
With the statement she has made which I have mentioned in the past slide, a lot of people wondered and kind of were bothered by the fact that some hoodwinker sunfish got to reach the shores. She told everyone to calm down because getting washed up to the land would always be normal for sea creatures and hoodwinker sunfish would not be excluded in that idea. Well, at least the marine scientist has always been open to sharing her knowledge with other people.
