Morgan Freeman – Fibromyalgia
Morgan Freeman was engaged in a vehicle accident in August of 2008. The car he was driving flipped onto its roof, and emergency workers had to use the jaws of life to cut him and his passenger free. The trauma he experienced that day left him with a badly wounded left hand and a life spent battling with fibromyalgia. He tries not to display the anguish he experiences on a daily basis, but Freeman’s suffering is vividly portrayed in a 2012 interview with Esquire magazine. The journalist notices Freeman gripping his shoulder and suppressing grimaces, underlining how out of character it is for the actor to be so uncomfortable. Freeman is eventually forced to explain, “It’s the fibromyalgia,” he adds. “Up and down the arm.” That’s where things go very bad. Excruciating.”

Michael J. Fox – Parkinson’s Disease
Michael J. Fox is most known for his long-running starring roles in Family Ties and Spin City, as well as his portrayal of Marty McFly in the Back to the Future films, but his Parkinson’s disease diagnosis has dominated his story in recent years. Fox first shown indications of the degenerative condition, which inhibits motor coordination, while filming the film Doc Hollywood in 1991. He initially complained of a hurting shoulder and a twitch in his little finger, but physicians warned him that this would increase and render him unable to work within a few years. They were correct about the first part, but Fox has never stopped working, most recently appearing in two episodes of CBS’ legal drama The Good Fight. Following his diagnosis, he founded the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which has raised more than $800 million to support Parkinson’s research.
